THE Zambia Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall and flash floods over Western, Southern, Lusaka, Eastern, Central and Copperbelt provinces.
In its seven-day weather forecast for February 24 to March 1, the ZMD stated that heavy rains and occasional thunder in many places would occur up to Monday today as the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) strengthened and continued to oscillate about the southern parts of Zambia.
“Heavy falls and flash floods expected over Western, Southern, Lusaka, Eastern, Central and Copperbelt provinces. The period from 28 February – 1st March 2017, the anticyclone (high pressure system) over the eastern half of Zambia will tend to reduce rainfall activities over Muchinga, Northern and Luapula provinces,” stated the ZMD./SM/JC
