SENEGAL coach Joseph Francois Koto says he hopes his team will beat hosts Zambia when the sides clash in the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations final tomorrow.
Senegal qualified after beating Guinea 1-0 in a West African semi-final derby played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Thursday evening.
Aliou Badji scored the all-important goal in the 13thminute after he was set up by Idrissa Ndecky.
Senegal lost in the final to Nigeria when they hosted the tournament two years ago, but Koto says the team is fully focused on tomorrow’s match.
“We cannot be talking about a final that was played two years ago because we have a match against Zambia. It is not up to me to predict the outcome of the match but I hope that Zambia will lose. It will be up to how the players will perform on the day,” said Koto.
“We are thankful that we are in the final and they [players] will be aware of what happened two years ago and we hope that they will enjoy.”
Both teams go into tomorrow’s final with unbeaten records, with Zambia having a 100 per cent winning rate while Senegal have drawn once and won its other matches.
