NKANA coach Zeddy Saileti says he is working on his team’s game fitness.
Nkana, like all teams, have been playing friendlies in preparation for the 2017 soccer season.
So far, Saileti’s side has played five friendly games, winning all of them.
In an interview after a friendly against town rivals Kitwe United, Saileti said 80 per cent of the preparations had been done in readiness for the new season which kicks off on March 29, with the traditional Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield.
“At least 80 per cent has been done. We still have to work on the 20 per cent and it’s good that we are playing tough friendly games which are giving us opportunities to identify areas where we have to improve,” Saileti said.
“For me, the results in these games don’t really matter, what matters is that we are gauging the fitness of the players and I am happy with the general fitness. Now we are working on game fitness, because it’s different, we have to see who is playing how many minutes.”
He said it was good to see his front line looking sharp.
Saileti added that competition among players was high in all areas after the arrival of new signings.
Nkana will play Zanaco in the semi-final of the Charity Shield while Zesco United will play Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium./
