ZANACO assistant coach Dabid Chilufya says his team is feeling the pinch of selling players.
And captain Ziyo Tembo says the team will target going all the way during the Continental Club Championships which they qualified for after they eliminated George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina’s side Yanga Africans FC on Saturday at the Heroes Stadium.
The bankers were banking on an away goal which they had scored in the first leg of the encounter which saw them go through to the group stage after they managed a goalless draw at home.
But Chilufya said the team needed more time together so that the players could bond.
“A team that can puncture other teams must be together for at least three years, then you can have a competitive team. But Looking at us, our players have gone, we have a new team, we thank God that we are even getting the result that we are getting,” said Chilufya. “We are learning and we are getting somewhere but it will take time. In front (striking), we are still struggling, we will put our heads together to make sure that we make a good striking force. For sure, we are not doing very fine when we are playing at home, so we are trying to change that. Getting to the group stages is a plus to the team and it’s a sign that the team is getting somewhere. We are trying to get the team to where it was.”
Meanwhile, Tembo said the team would not limit itself in the games.
“We are not going to limit ourselves; we just want to go all the way. We won’t say we want to reach the group stage, no. We will go all the way,” said Tembo.
