ZANACO has pumped in US$20,000 towards the hosting of the 2017 Mopani/Redpath Zambia Golf Open Championship to be held in Kitwe.
Nkana Golf Club will host this year’s tournament, which is scheduled for June 1-4.
Zanaco acting managing director and chief executive officer Lishala Situmbeko said this morning that the bank was excited to be partnering in golf with the US$150,000-rich 2017 Mopani/Redpath Zambia Golf Open tournament organisers.
“Zanaco will stand by your side. This is not an event whereby we have come on a fly-by-night and we leave. We are not treating this as a transaction but as a partnership. We believe that by this sponsorship, this club, our customers and the nation at large will all benefit,” said Situmbeko.
And Zambia Open organising committee chairperson Emmanuel Mutati said Zanaco’s involvement was a massive boost to the successful hosting of the tournament.
“The donation from Zanaco will go a long way in meeting the various logistical needs that come with hosting a tournament of this magnitude,” said Mutati.
Nkana Golf Club captain Philemon Mwale said: “This is an exciting period and we are delighted to have a big contribution from a big, strong and reliable bank like Zanaco and we thank you for joining us on this journey.”
