ZANACO Bank acting managing director Lishala Situmbeko says the bank will stand with Zanaco Football Club in its quest to win a maiden CAF Champions League title.
Zanaco, the Zambian champions who have won the local premiership seven times, qualified to the lucrative group stage of CAF’s continental premier competition last week.
In an interview, Situmbeko said the bank’s association with the Zanaco FC was not a transaction but a long term partnership.
“Well, we want them to go as far as possible, we know they are champions and they have won the premiership seven times and throughout our 35 years of sponsorship to this team, we have been with them and we will continue supporting them and we want them to keep winning,” Situmbeko said.
He urged the team to remain strong because “in competition, there are always setbacks along the way”.
“Yes there may be setbacks but that’s the nature of the game. We are with them…we are here for the long haul; it’s not a transaction but partnership,” said Situmbeko.
Draws for the CAF Champions League group stages will be made next month.
