FIFA has given a go ahead to football federations around the world to make changes to football regulations. In a circular, FIFA stated that the modifications, which among others, include the tampering with the size of both the pitch and the ball, does not include national teams and top division clubs.
FIFA has given the green light to national federations to make modifications to the rules of the game for youth, veterans, disability and grassroots. Among these changes, each team is permitted to use up to a maximum of five substitutions – FIFA stated.
“It is also up to the national federations to define, among many other things, the size of the field of play, size, weight and material of the ball, width between goalposts and height of the crossbar from the ground. This, however, does not include men and women’s competitions involving the first teams of clubs in the top division and senior ‘A’ international teams.”
