Police fire teargas to disperse UPND cadres at court

POLICE this morning fired teargas at UPND youths who went to offer solidarity to their incarcerated leader Hakainde Hichilema at the magistrates’ court.

The peaceful and unarmed youths who were denied entry into the court premises were seen being confronted by a horde of police officers in riot gear.

The police, agitated by the zeal and stance taken by the UPND youths who wanted a catch a glimpse of their leader, were later forced to use teargas to disperse the crowds.

Meanwhile, some youths who were aggrieved by the police action took to Nationalist Road and pulled down some posters belonging to the PF.
