LUSAKA magistrate Felix Kaoma has warned that he will be forced to issue a warrant of arrest against PF sympathiser Emmanuel Chilekwa who is a witness in a case lawyer Martha Mushipe is in court for seditious practice so that he is cross examined.

Magistrate Kaoma made the warning yesterday after public prosecutor Nsama Nsama informed him that he did not know the whereabouts of Chilekwa.

He said Chilekwa was warned to attend court yesterday so that he could be cross examined but did not show up. And magistrate Kaoma said he would issue a bench warrant against Chilekwa if he does not appear on June 13 when the case is scheduled to come up so that he is brought under warrant on June 16.

He testified that he had attended a meeting chaired by Mushipe in 2015 whose agenda, in his view, was to incite violence.

According to Chilekwa, he was a member of  ‘Team Sylvia’  WhatsApp group as well as the UPND media team.

Chilekwa, 54 narrated that in June 2015, he received a phone call requesting him to attend a meeting. He said when he reached the venue, he found eight people and that later, Mushipe chaired the meeting and produced a document that was titled ‘Oath of Confidentiality’.

“The reason for that document was to ensure that whatever was to be discussed should not be disclosed and our phones were taken away from us for fear of possible leakages and recordings,” testified Chilekwa.

But he failed for appear in court so that he could be cross-examined.

The matter was adjourned to May 22 for mention while trial continues on June 13 when Chilekwa is expected to be cross examined.
