Dynamos battle Nkana to stay top of league

LEADERS Lusaka Dynamos will be hoping to continue to stay on top of the MTN/FAZ Super League table when they host in-form Nkana at the National Heroes stadium in Lusaka as the league enters week 11 today.

And second placed NAPSA Stars has a daunting task to remain in the hunt for the title when they host defending champions Zanaco at Sunset stadium.
Dynamos, with a big number of foreign players on their books, started the league badly largely due to lack of cohesion in the team but have recovered to shoot to the summit.

Nkana who missed an opportunity to go top of the table when they gave away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Kabwe Warriors will be looking to win in Lusaka and turn the tables instead.

Coach Zeddy Saileti reckons the game against a side with experienced coaches will be an interesting affair and touts his charges to rise to the challenge.

“I think the game against Lusaka Dynamos will be interesting; they have experienced players with experienced coaches,” Saileti said.

“But if you have seen the way we have fared well and look at the points that we have dropped, it was against Nakambala, Nchanga and Warriors. So we have to recover those points. That’s why I am saying the game will be interesting and again they are also motivated because they want to maintain the lead but we will give it all.”

Saileti has captain Donashano Malama, Christopher Munthali, Given Sinyangwe and goal keeper Kelvin Malunga back in the team after they missed the Warriors game to injury and national duties respectively.

At Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu stadium, Kabwe Warriors’ search for a first league win continues in a huge fixture against Zesco United while Red Arrows hope to improve their rollercoaster ride against Green Eagles.

Zambia under-20 national team coach returns to local action with his faltering Lumwana Radiants side hosting out-of-sorts City of Lusaka.

At Arthur Davies stadium in Kitwe, Power Dynamos host Nchanga Rangers in what seems to be an easy fixture on paper looking to go top with a win depending on the result in Lusaka between the other Dynamo and rivals Nkana.

Elsewhere, Real Nakonde host Green Buffaloes while Forest Rangers play host to Mufulira Wanderers at Trade Fair grounds with Nkwazi hosting Nakambala Leopards.

Levy Mwanawasa Stadium hosts the last game of the day between Buildcon and Konkola Blades.
