Criminals shoot dead Lusaka cop

SUSPECTED criminals have shot dead a police officer identified as Sergeant Ludovic Bwalya of Lusaka’s Ben Mwiinga police post.


Police spokesperson Esther Katongo stated this morning that Sgt Bwalya sustained gunshot wounds in the chest.


A police officer of Ben Mwiinga Police Post in Lusaka identified as Sergeant Ludovic Bwalya died yesterday after he was shot by unknown criminals. This occurred in Lusaka Province on 18th June 2017 at about 04:00 hours in Lusaka’s Presidential Housing Initiative (PHI) [area],

Katongo stated.


“He was discovered by members of the public who reported having found a body of a male person dressed in a police uniform. Police officers from Bennie Mwiinga Police Post rushed to the scene and discovered that it was the body of their colleague, Sergeant Bwalya.”


She stated that Sgt Bwalya was pronounced dead at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital where he had been rushed by his colleagues.


The officer who was on duty had asked for permission from his supervisor to knock off early as he had a church programme later that day. The body is in Levy Mwanawasa Hospital and investigations in the matter have been instituted,

stated Katongo.
