LIVINGSTONE Tourism Association chairperson Alexander Mutali says tourists will be skeptical visiting Zambia if a State of Emergency is declared.
Commenting on President Edgar Lungu’s issuance of Statutory Instrument 53 of 2017 proclaiming that a situation exists which, if allowed to continue, may lead to a state of emergency, Mutali said the tourism sector would face grave challenges.
Tourists will be skeptical about visiting Zambia because with a State of Emergency, they will believe that everything is on fire in the country,
He said the tourism sector would keep its fingers crossed and wait to see what type of restrictions would be put in place.
We will issue a consolidated statement after seeing the conditions that will come but we will certainly face a lot of challenges,
