THE matter in which incarcerated UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema wants religious affairs minister Godfridah Sumaili cited for contempt has been adjourned because lawyers for both parties are in Kabwe for a Constitutional Court hearing.
When the matter came up today for continued hearing of the application by the Director of Public Prosecutions to take over the matter, one of the lawyers for the complainants who was present, Zevyanji Sinkala, told magistrate Ireen Wishimanga that other lawyers were in Kabwe for a Constitutional Court hearing.
Sinkala said parties had agreed to adjourn the case. The matter was then adjourned to July 26 at 09:00 hours. Sumaili was asked to attend court on the set date.
Meanwhile, Hichilema and his co-accused arrived at court amid tight security.
The courtroom was full to capacity with a number of police and prison officers.
