VETERAN politician Simon Zukas, 92, caused concern after he collapsed during celebrations to mark Bastille Day at the French Ambassador’s residence in Lusaka this afternoon.
The veteran politician and freedom fighter was among several guests at the event, which was graced by commerce minister Margaret Mwanakatwe, when he suddenly collapsed to the ground.
He was initially carried into the residence of Ambassador Emmanuel Cohet where a doctor attended to him.
Zukas’ wife Cynthia, the doctor and several diplomats, led by Ambassador Cohet, were with the veteran politician until he was later evacuated in a Coptic Hospital ambulance.
His condition has not yet been established.
