NKANA coach Beston Chambeshi says beating leaders Zesco United is sweet for the supporters.
And Zesco coach Zlako Krmpotic has complained that his players are tired due to the fixture congestion they are currently going through.
The result dropped Zesco from top of the league standings which has now been taken by Lusaka Dynamos who beat Forest Rangers 2-0 in Lusaka while Nkana move to fifth position level on 38 points with rivals Power Dynamos in fourth position though the former have a superior goal difference.
Nkana beat Zesco 1-0 in the MTN/FAZ Super League week 23 match at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola with only goal scored by left back Diego Apanane.
Speaking in post-match interviews, Chambeshi said he was happy with the way his defence managed to shut ‘good’ Zesco strikers.
Sweet victory, beating Zesco was not an easy thing, they played a good game. But we planned for this game, and I am happy with the determination from the boys, they fought from the word go,
We saw that the goal was coming and I am happy with defence, they contained the sharp frontline of Zesco. We are moving slowly…what we need now is to take each game as it comes like the way things are coming up now. I hope and trust the boys will start fighting the way we want so that we stay in a good position on the log. Beating the top team is nice, sweet for the supporters and the players.
And Krmpotic said: “Good game, Nkana scored a goal from two shots, we lost but I think this is not fair, we play without natural player many games and we continue playing Wednesday, Sunday, Wednesday, Sunday, we have many players tired from this and I don’t have rotation, this is a problem but for this game, we tried to change something…”
