MUFULIRA Junior tennis players have announced their participation in the Serving Zambia sponsored junior tennis tournament to be held in Lusaka. The tournament scheduled to start tomorrow until Sunday where several other Copperbelt teams will take part.
“Most of the Copperbelt-based teams will be transported to Lusaka by the Mopani sponsored 60 seater bus today. We are taking 23 kids from Mufulira, 15 from Nkana, 5 Chibuluma, 5 from Nchanga and 5 from Ndola,” said Mufulira Tennis Club captain Emmanuel Chewe, who is also Zambia Tennis Association (ZTA) North junior coordinator.
“Each team will be accompanied by one club official. The Lusaka trip has been made possible by Mopani Copper mines who are also partner sponsors of Mufulira Tennis Club. We are ever indebted to Mopani Copper mines for their continued support to the club and the junior program. With this kind of rare support, we will strive to continue working hard as coaches and as a committee to make the club and junior program even better.”
The tournament coincides with the country visit of Love-40 programme president Sydney Bwalya who has since promised to personally be in Lusaka and support the kids.
“I am thrilled to be here and witness the kids competing. I have seen a lot talent and improvement among the many kids in our program and can’t wait to see them in action,” said Bwalya.
