Multichoice commits to promoting film industry

MULTICHOICE Zambia says it remains committed to contribute to the growth of the local film industry.

Speaking in Kitwe during the launch of Sotambe, a project that has an array of programmes that will be screened on Zambezi Magic, Multichoice Zambia public relations manager Mwiika Malindima said the initiative showed the commitment that the pay television company had towards improving local productions.

“Let me take this opportunity to announce that MultiChoice has committed to invest a total $18, 000 or (K180, 000) towards an array of programs lined up under the Sotambe project. I’m pleased to inform you that this investment has gone to support such programmes as the Conference on Entrepreneurship, Outdoor screening, marketing and the Awards Ceremony for Sotambe,” Malindima said. “Sotambe, the program that we are launching as you could tell from the title, is a word from the Bemba dialect which means ‘come and see’. As MultiChoice, we are in the business of providing household entertainment and therefore, the title of this program could not have been more appropriate. For 22 years, and along with our joint venture partners, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), we have kept Zambia well entertained with quality local and international content using the very best of video entertainment technology.”

He said MultiChoice would continue to lead the way in pay TV in Zambia with innovative products.

“…it is also a business you can trust having been consistently adding value to your service for 22 years. We are happy this year that the rest of the country is on a digital migration path. MultiChoice products, DStv and GOtv have been digital in Zambia since inception 22 years ago for DStv and six years for GOtv. With this, I would like to assure all our customers on DStv and GOtv that they are already digital and do not have to do anything as the digital switch over takes place on October one,” said Malindima. “To ensure that our customers know that DStv and GOtv are here to stay in Zambia, we are launching a new package called GOtv Max for our GOtv customers on October 1. The package will provide more sport, reality TV and give customers content from channels such as Sony Max and Fox.”
