A LUSAKA woman has sued Debonaires claiming K300,000 as compensation for the inconvenience caused after the Pizza company wrongly advertised her mobile phone on its website and Facebook page.
Beverly Musonda, a resident of Kamwala South, wants a court order to compel Debonairs to remove and stop using her phone number for its business on its website. She is also seeking damages for being put in danger if death was to occur from food poisoning during production, consumption and supply of pizza and other foods. Musonda claimed that earlier this year, Debonaires customers started calling her using phone number 0966 947593 inquiring about orders for pizza. She stated that customers continued calling her for pizza orders and told her that they got her number from the Debonairs website and Facebook page. Musonda submitted further that she approached the manager at Debonaires, Kabwata branch, who declined the claim. The plaintiff claimed that despite laying a complaint, her phone number was still appearing on the defendant’s website and that customers continued calling her even at awkward times. Musonda stated that her right to privacy had been violated adding that attempts to have the matter settled amicably failed.
