Zambia to host 2019 Southern Africa local authorities sports tournament

ZAMBIA has been nominated  to host the 2019 Southern Africa Local Authorities and Municipal  sports tournament.

Zambia Local Authority Sports association president  Sam Nyirenda confirmed the development in Pretoria South Africa where Zambia is participating in this year’s Southern Africa Local Authorities and Municipal  tournament, according to a statement issued by first secretary for press and public relations at Zambia’s High Commission in South African  Naomi Nyawali.

Nyirenda said Zambia  was unanimously chosen to host the 2019 tournament following an understanding by SADC member state .

He said Zambia was ready to host the games  adding that it will enhance the spirit of unity in the SADC region.

Nyirenda noted that Zambia would benefit from hosting this prestigious event as over 4,000 sports men and women will be in the country .

He added that apart from it being a sporting event, the tournament will be a source of revenue and tourism in  hosting towns.

Meanwhile, the Zambia netball team represented by Lusaka City Council has sailed through to the finals after defeating defending champions Buffaloes of Eastern Cape Municipality.
