IBA summons Prime TV over alleged ‘non-compliance’ in broadcasting

THE Independent Broadcasting Authority has summoned Prime TV over alleged non-compliance of the IBA Act.

In a letter dated October 6 to Prime TV chief executive officer Gerald Shawa, IBA director general Josephine Mapoma stated that the summoning was in line with Section 29(2) of the IBA Act which states that,

“Where a broadcasting licensee does not comply with this Act or with the conditions of the Broadcasting Licence, the Authority shall notify the Broadcasting Licensee of the measures that the Broadcasting Licensee should undertake should undertake, within the specified period, to complu with the conditions fot his Act or the Broadcasting Licence.”

In view of the above, Mapoma stated, “you are hereby summoned to appear before the Licensing and Compliance Committee of the Board on Monday, 9th October 2017 at 10:30 hours in the IBA Boardroom for non-compliance in your broadcasting”.
