FOURTH-placed Nkana will have to ensure that they beat Forest Rangers this afternoon in Kitwe and increase their points to 59 on the MTN/FAZ Super League standings. The Beston Chambeshi coached side would, probably, not want any slip-ups at Nkana Stadium today, especially that they, last week, recorded a scoreless stalemate away in Ndola to Buildcon.
Nkana currently has 56 points, seven less than the point tally of log leaders Zesco United and the Kitwe-based team, with its raucous fan base, is working hard just to finish into the top four bracket, a ticket for playing coveted continental football next year.
On the pitch, Forest will have to be on the lookout of Nkana’s deft players in defender Dieugo Apanane, Danny Silavwe, Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba, Jacob Ngulube and even Walter Bwalya.
Conversely, Forest Rangers, currently on 11-positon with 46 points, cannot travel from their base in Ndola just to be a patsy opponent at Nkana. Coach Perry Mutapa, whose side beat Nchanga Rangers 2-1 in Ndola last week, will, obviously, whisper some football facts to his boys in order to contain Nkana.
The other game today will see Napsa Stars, who have been remarkable under stand-in coach Linos Makwaza, play wretched Real Nakonde in Nakonde. Real Nakonde, on 21 points, are as good as demoted and will have to play real football to record to a positive result over Napsa.
“We are taking the game seriously because our intentions is to finish [in the] top four. We’ll not underrate them (Real Nakonde) because we don’t know how they have re-enforced themselves,” said Makwaza in his pre-match comment.
Napsa has 50 points and sits on the seventh position on the Super League table. Most of the other Week 34 matches will be played this Wednesday.
