Chief Mweemba suffers severe burns in suspected petrol bomb attack

SENIOR chief Mweemba has been admitted to Maamba Hospital after suffering severe burns from suspected petrol bombing while he was asleep in his palace.

Southern Province police commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the incident and said three other people who were in the chief’s house also suffered burns.

“Be informed that we received information of arson from Paul Kanyemba also a headman at Kanyemba village, who reported four people namely Edison Shamu, 67, senior chief Mweemba, Clement Hantobolo, aged 37, Paul Sinakatongo, 48 and Mubita Mubita aged 19, all of Kanyemba village, who were burnt after the house they were sleeping in was set ablaze by unknown persons,” Kapeso said.

“All the victims sustained severe burns all over their bodies and property whose value is yet to be ascertained was destroyed…the crime scene was visited and the house was found still on fire and it was established that petrol was the source of fire, but no clues were immediately noticed.”

He said the incident happened around 03:00am yesterday.

Kapeso added that the police had since continued with their
investigations and would brief the nation as and when new information

    That is unfortunate when you don’t know anything you just yourself in such an incident ,really disturbing .
