NKANA defender John Mwengani says he is ready to fight for a place in the CHAN team should national team coach Wedson Nyirenda extend an invitation.
Mwengani has been a revelation and pillar at the heart of the Nkana defence since moving from Forest Rangers in the middle of the season.
Some football followers believe Mwengani’s heroics are the reason Nkana stabilised to become a title contender since the team stopped conceding easy goals as was the case in the first half of the season.
In an interview, Mwengani said he was ready for the national team challenge.
“I am always ready to represent my country, and I will fight for the place should the coach give me an opportunity to play for the national team. I will be happy to be part of the CHAN squad and that is a kind of challenge that you dream of as a player,” said Mwengani.
“I will embrace it with both hands, but again, that’s up to the coaches. But if that opportunity comes, I am ready.”
