THE Zambia U-20 Cosafa team has been hit by an injury setback with midfielder Niza Simutenda ruled out of the tournament with a fractured arm.
Team manager Mwansa Kapyanga told Fazfooball.com that Simutenda will be replaced by Sweden based Edward Chilufya.
Chilufya, who is with Djurgardens, is still eligible to play for the U-20 national team as he is 18 years old.
The Mphande Youth Academy product was part of the Cosafa U-20 and Africa Cup winning sides at U-20 level, with an added accolade of being at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea where Zambia reached the quarter finals.
Zambia has been drawn in Group A at this year’s championship along with Swaziland, guest nation Uganda and Malawi.
They open their campaign against the Ugandans at the Arthur Davies Stadium on December 6, before a clash with Malawi at the same venue two days later.
The African champions will close their pool play with a fixture against Swaziland at the Nkana Stadium on December 11, with just the top team in each group advancing to the semi-finals, along with the best-placed runner-up.
