FORMER WBC gold champion Catherine Phiri says all the boxers she has fought are good. And Catherine says every boxer has a set of skill different from the other. Catherine was last weekend defeated by Kenyan Boxer Fatuma Zarika in her quest to retain her crown she lost in Mexico earlier in the year.
But Catherine has remained optimistic that she would bounce back to her title in the near future.
“As a boxer, I have to fight everywhere. So far, I have fought three fights outside the country and I have won one and lost two. The boxers I have been fighting are good boxers,” Catherine said yesterday.
“…but each opponent is different, each opponent has different skills. So it’s not that I was fighting weaker opponents (then) and now I am facing tough opponents. If you look at Gibisela, she is a very good boxer. I believe that time I won, it was a lucky punch. Even myself, I did not see that punch.”
She added that she was yet to make a come back and retain her global title.
“I am still going back (to winning ways), I believe that a chance will open up and I will get back the title,” said Catherine.
