INSPECTOR General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has rescinded his decision to commission eight Chinese as Zambia Police reserves, with some carrying the rank of assistant commissioner.
There was public outcry yesterday after the commissioning of the eight Chinese men, with several Zambians questioning the reasoning behind the decision.
“The Inspector General of Police, Mr Kakoma Kanganja has rescinded the appointment of Chinese nationals as Police Reserve Officers. The decision was made after making wide consultations following public outcry which came after the engagement of eight (08) Chinese nationals into the Zambia Police Reserve Wing yesterday,” Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo state.
“However, members of the public should be aware that the appointments were not done outside the Law but within the provisions of the Zambia Police Reserve Act, Chapter 117 of the Laws of Zambia.”
