TEN people, among them a teacher, nurses and pupils have appeared in the Siavonga Magistrates Court for being possession of examination papers. Appearing before magistrate Edward Banda was Adrian Magisi and nine others who were charged with unlawful possession of examination papers contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
The accused said they understood the charge but denied committing the offence. It was alleged that the accused, some time in October this year, had unlawful possession of 14 grade nine mathematics examination papers. The court therefore recorded a plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to January 15, 2018 for trial.
Eight of the accuseds are remanded in custody at Siavonga Police Station while two are on bail. In October this year, a teacher at Chaanga Secondary School in Siavonga mistakenly posted a Grade 9 Mathematics Examination paper on a SESTUZ WhatsApp group thinking he was sending it to his pupils.
The matter was then reported to Siavonga Police Station, which led to the arrest of the teacher and other people who were involved in the leakage of the examination paper.
