ORIENTAL Quarries Boxing Promotions says it has a K48,000 deficit for the hosting of the forthcoming championship. And Africa Boxing Union champion Alfred Muwowo has vowed to defend his title on New Year’s Eve.
Briefing the media when he welcomed new sponsors, OQPB operations manager Christopher Malunga said the deficit would, however, be met before the tournament starts.
“With today’s donations from Zesco, 24/7, Onion and Greens and Mika Group of Hotels, the deficit is now K 48,000 out of the K600,000 total budget and we are optimistic that we shall raise the remaining amount before [December] 31st,” Malunga said.
And Muwowo who will be in the main bout of the night said his time in camp was enough to guarantee him victory.
“I am very ready for this fight. I don’t need to know my opponent but my time in camp has given me enough time to prepare. I have been in camp for more than six months,” said Muwowo.
Among other professionals who will be fighting in the supporting bouts include Catherine Phiri and Loreta Muziya.
