Ugandan witchdoctor, another in court for obtaining K20,300 by false pretences

A UGANDA traditional doctor and another person have appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to obtaining K20,300 by falsely pretending that it will be multiplied to K100,000.

Before Lusaka magistrate Albert Mwaba was Betty Nachijuma and Asha Monela, a traditional doctor and secretary respectively, who are charged with obtaining money by false pretences contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that the accused persons between December 3 and 9, 2017, in Lusaka, with intent to deceive or defraud, jointly and whilst acting together obtained K20,300 from David Mandona by falsely pretending that she would multiply it to K100,000 when in fact not.

Taking plea, the duo pleaded not guilty and the court adjourned the case to January 25 for commencement of trial.
