Mampi gets nomination for Hippo music awards

ZAMBIAN Rhythm and Blues female vocalist Mampi has been nominated in the Hippo music awards under the category of Africa best female artist.

According to the list released on Tuesday) Miriam Mukape, aka Queen Diva, is among nine of Africa’s best females musicians to compete in the Hippo Music Awards.

The Zambia versatile performer will compete against among others Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage.

The awards are set for March 17 at Serena Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

The music assembly will do 30 per cent of the voting while the public vote will have a 70 per cent input.

Mampi was last year awarded the Mwape Peer Award for her outstanding music talent.

She was one of the recipients of the entertainment awards as recognition for music talent in Zambia and around the world.

The Mwape Peer Awards are held every year to honor the individuals in Africa and the diaspora who have played pivotal roles in their communities.

Her entertainment excellence on stage has seen her perform at the grand finale of the Seychelles Airtel Music Awards, in China, USA, France, Uganda, among other countries.
