POWER Dynamos will host a four teams pre-season tournament as part of the preparations for the 2018 soccer season.
Power team manager Lombe Chipupu said in an interview that after the Mongu outing at the start of the month, which was mainly for physical reconditioning, the team will focus on fine tuning preparations ahead of the start of the new season which opens on March 17.
“The Mongu outing was just physical so the next phase of our training is football. So we are organising a tournament of four teams. We are working with my colleague from the technical department. We will host it here at Arthur Davies stadium but we will inform you which teams after finishing negotiations,” Chipupu said.
Power finished sixth on the league table and there is a lot of pressure on new coach Kelvin Kaindu to deliver silverware and possible a return to CAF continental competitions.
The Copperbelt Energy Corporation sponsored last won the league title in 2011and last played continental football in 2014, a situation that has enraged supporters at the club.
Their neighbours Nkana who are playing in the CAF Confederation Cup next month intensified their preparations with a local friendly against Solwezi division one side FQM yesterday following their return from Zimbabwe where they played two friendly matches.
