NKANA will play friendly matches against top Kenyan sides en route to their CAF Confederation Cup first round match next month.
And Nkana will travel to Algeria for the first leg, first round match of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Meanwhile, coach Beston Chambeshi says he is happy with the players’ fitness and commitment.
Both club president Everisto Kabila and team manager Charles Chakatazya confirmed the development in separate interviews.
Nkana will face Algerian side CR Belouizdad who eliminated Onze Createurs of Mali 2-0 last night in Algiers.
“We are arranging to play top sides in Kenya to give our boys the best preparations ahead of the first leg. Tusker FC is already confirmed. Others will be confirmed later but the aim is to give the team adequate preparations. It’s important to be adequately prepared for the first game,” said Kabila.
And Chambeshi said playing friendlies in Kenya would give his bench a chance to gauge the team’s readiness for the first CAF game.
“I am happy with the fitness of the boys, you can see the way they are all shaping up well. Technically also we have come in and you can tell that they are responding well. We are also very happy that the executive committee is organising friendly games with big clubs outside the country. This will help us since we are facing opponents that have already started playing competitively,” he said.
Nkana leave for Kenya today and will play the first friendly against Tusker on Monday.
The first leg against CR Belouizdad is on March 7.
