MBABANE Swallows coach Thabo Vilakati says his team’s chances of beating Zanaco are slim and that he is hoping for a draw or a loss with a small margin.
Speaking shortly after his team arrived in the country ahead of this afternoon’s CAF Champions League first round first leg scheduled for Nkoloma Stadium, Vilakati said he was conscious of Zanaco’s pedigree.
“I’m positive of maybe a draw or even if we lose the game, we don’t lose it with an avalanche of goals. They [Zanaco] will field in 11 players and we will field in 11 players. We have played them before and they have beaten us before so we know what to expect,” Vilakati said.
“It’s a normal task but I think we will be up to the task. We have prepared although we have got some suspension, but we have enough cover to play the game. We know Zanaco is a powerhouse but we will do our utmost best to go home with the results.”
The second leg will be played in Swaziland on March 17, with the winner set to proceed to the group stage of the continental competition.
Meanwhile, Zesco United are also in CAF Champions League action at home against ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire this afternoon.
Zesco secured their pre-group phase spot following a 7-0 home win over Zanzibar champions JKU at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola and a draw in the first leg in Zanzibar on February 10.
