CHIPOLOPOLO coach Wedson Nyirenda has explained that he has called midfieder Clatous Chama for national team doctors to assess his fitness.
The Lusaka Dynamos midfielder has been nursing an injury and reportedly just started training ahead of the new season.
But Nyirenda has drafted the nimble-footed playmaker into his provisional squad for the upcoming four-nation tournament on the next FIFA date.
Many soccer enthusiasts have questioned the decision.
“Clatous has started training now. We want him assessed by national team doctors,” Nyirenda said of Chama who was dropped.
He has also said he is closely watching Chama’s compatriot, Paul Banda, before he can decide on him.
Nyirenda worked with Banda at U-20.
“Paul was with me at U-20; I have been watching him closely and there is one or two things I need to ascertain with him before I can make a call-up. This is professional,” said Nyirenda.
