Mutinta opts to remain silent in obstruction case

ORACLE Media proprietor Mutinta M’membe has opted to remain silent in a matter she was found with a case to answer for obstructing court officials who went to her residence to execute a search warrant in February 2017.
It is alleged that Mutinta on February 15, 2017, in Lusaka, willfully obstructed Japhet Mulenga from lawfully executing a search warrant issued by a Magistrate Court.
Mutinta pleaded not guilty to the offence.
And when the case came up for opening of defence, Mutinta’s lawyers Sashi Katebe and Mulambo Haimbe informed the court that they made efforts to bring a witness but to no avail.
Haimbe said his client had opted to remain silent.
He said the defence was seeking an adjournment to enable them secure the presence of the only witness they had lined up.
Haimbe said if they fail to secure the presence of the witness on May 10, they would advise on the next cause of action.
The matter was adjourned to May 10.
