Zesco, Zanaco face-off

LEADERS Zesco United will be put to the test today when they face tough-tested Zanaco in the MTN/FAZ Super League week 9 at Sunset stadium live on Super Sporttelevision on this day to mark the silver jubilee of the Gabon Air Disaster.

And coach Elijah Chikwanda will be looking to jumpstart his new employers’ NAPSA Stars campaign when his side faces resurgent Nkana who are also looking for some stability after picking just four from a possible 12 points of the last four games.

The NAPSA-Nkana game will be an early kick-off to the Zesco game.

Zanaco runners-up last season are looking to recover from that early elimination from CAF Inter-club competitions having only managed a draw at Buildcon last Wednesday following their return from Morocco.

“We haven’t had time to recover after travelling for three days. But every time we play Zesco we come to the party. We expect a tough game but my players are looking forward to it. We want to continue encouraging each other so that we don’t lose a match soon,” said Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba.

Joint league leaders Power Dynamos travel to troubled Lumwana Radiants looking to extend their lead on top hoping Zanaco will do them justice against fellow table-toppers Zesco while Lumwana coach Zeddy Saileti whose team has been a shadow of themselves compared to last season will be looking for recovery after a recent spate of poor results.

Green Buffaloes who are also level on 16 points at the top alongside Power and Zesco will be looking to break away with a win against in-form Forest Rangers at Independence stadium.

Fourth placed Kabwe Warriors will be looking to take full advantage of playing at home to get maximum points over Buildcon and extend their recent unbeaten run to five in a row while Buildcon will be hunting for a second win and also extend their recent unbeaten to four since Tenant Chembo took over as coach.

Elsewhere, Kitwe United host Green Eagles, Nakambala host Nchanga Rangers, Monze Swallows will be looking for a first win when they host National Assembly with the last game of the day seeing winless Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy facing Lusaka Dynamos in a David versus Goliath affair.
