THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress has partnered with the UPND in the Chilanga parliamentary by-election. According to Misheck Moyo, the NDC national chairperson for Media and member of the central committee, the party will rally and campaign for UPND candidate Charmaine Musonda ahead of the June 5 polls.
He said NDC secretary general Mwenya Musenge has since urged all party members in Lusaka Province to “go flat out and campaign for the UPND candidate”.
Moyo explained that Musenge, however, clarified that the party had not gotten into an alliance with the UPND but merely teamed up to support Musonda. He explained that since the NDC was not in the race for the Chilanga seat, they resolved that “the only credible party to support in the race is the UPND”.
And Musenge has disclosed that senior NDC members would soon join the UPND campaign team in Chilanga. He said he was optimistic that the UPND candidate would emerge victorious. Musenge further reiterated his party’s pursuit to participate in all future parliamentary and local government by-elections countrywide.
