A SPORTS administrator in Luangeni Constituency says rural leagues have helped young people refrain from vices that could ruin their future. Speaking during the Khova Amadoda League finals sponsored by area member ofparliament Charles Zulu on Sunday, league chairman Hastings Mbuzisaid the league had kept the youths busy since itstarted in April last year.
“This league has helped in so many ways. The youths are kept busy here and by so doing, they cannot concentrate on other bad things like beer drinking and other vices,” Mbuzi said.
He said criminal activity in the area had reduced because of the league that had kept the young people busy. Mbuzi said he was grateful to Zulu for sponsoring football and netball leagues throughout the constituency. And Zulu said he had been sponsoring leagues in the area for the past 15 years – even before he became an MP – and would continue to do so.
During Sunday’s final, Pasilani FC beat Sung’uni PF 2-0 while Masi beat Thabale one-nil in the third place play-offs.
