ZESCO United this evening will be attempting to get the first three points of the CAF Champions League campaign when they face Tunisian champions Etoile du Sahel at the Stade Olympique de Sousse.

Zesco started the group stage on a low note, drawing 1-1 at home with Mbabane Swallows a fortnight ago and will be looking to put their campaign back on track with victory tonight.

Coach George Lwandamina will be looking for a better to this year’s campaign especially this being his second coming having reached the semi-finals of the same competition in his first term in 2016 before he left to join Yanga FC in Tanzania.

“The bar we set for ourselves is too high, that is number one that is the motivating factor. The two, we want to play again (in the semi-finals) but we can’t go to the benchmark before we play games like this one,” Lwandamina said.

He said he was looking forward to playing the best in the group.

“If they (Etoile) are also considered one of the best in the group then those are the teams you should beat if you want to succeed.”

The Tunisian side has gone three games without a win in all competitions but Lwandamina is cautious of the fact that that could be a motivating factor for them to record a win.

“That is why this game will be very difficult because they wouldn’t want to lose again. We have to be very careful. If we go with that mentality that they have lost three successive games (two actually not three) then you will also beat them, we will get a surprise. This is where we have to psyche our players so they go there focused with the objective of beating our benchmark. It has to start from this game,” said Lwandamina.

The match kicks off at 21:00 hours Zambian time and will be live on SuperSport channel 9.
