ZESCO United coach George Lwandamina says the team will pick up in the remaining games after losing 2-1 to Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in the second group game of the CAF Champions League on Wednesday evening in Sousse.
With just a point from that draw in the first group game against Mbabane Swallows played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zesco United FC have sunk to the bottom of group D.
Etoile du Sahel joined Swallows top group D with four points apiece while Zesco are level with Primeiro de Agosto of Angola on one point but Primeiro have a better goal difference.
Zesco must now aim to pick atleast 10 of the remaining 12 points to stand a chance of making it to the quarter finals depending on how the other teams fair in the remaining fixtures.
Lwandamina, however, lamented losing a match to a team he said was not a difficult opponent to beat.
“This is just a second game there are more games to be played, am sure we can pick up pieces in the remaining games. Like I said it was not a very difficult game, the start of the second half we made basic errors which costed us. It was not a game that we could have lost had it not been for the errors, we also had our chances which we could have put away, I am sure the complexion of the game could have changed had we scored those chances we created,” said Lwandamina.
Zesco play Agosto on July 27away in Angola seeking revival of the campaign from which a loss would all but end their hopes of going further in the competition./
