PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu will this Saturday join residents of Munali in the countrywide clean up exercise which the Ministry of Local Government has set for every last Saturday of the month. Local government minister Vincent Mwale said during a briefing in Lusaka that the cleaning exercise would commence early morning during which all businesses would be closed until after 10:00hrs.
He said social and entertainment activities would be suspended during this period to facilitate the clean-up under the Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy campaign. Mwale has called on all Zambians to take part in the clean-up exercise.
“It is now a requirement as Government Policy that all citizens participate in the cleaning of their surroundings every last Saturday of the month,” said Mwale who, however, explained that Seventh-Day Adventsist (SDA) Church members had been exempted from the cleaning exercise on Saturday and would be expected to do so on Sunday.
