WEDSON Nyirenda has resigned as Chipolopolo head coach.
Football Association of Zambia general secretary Ponga Liwewe announced Nyirenda’s resignation as head coach of the Zambia national team with immediate effect.
Nyirenda is reportedly on his way to Baroka FC to take over the coaching reigns at Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele.
Liwewe said Nyirenda served as national coach from September 2016 to May 2018.
“The association wishes to thank Mr. Nyirenda for his contribution towards the national team and for the sterling work he put into his job.
The process to fill the vacancy of head coach will begin and the association will conclude the process in the shortest possible time to meet upcoming engagements,” said Liwewe.
It is alleged that a two-year deal has been agreed to between the club and their new head coach.
Baroka finished the season with Doctor Khumalo in charge as their interim coach, following the removal of MacDonald Makhubedu from the team’s technical bench towards the end of the campaign.
