SP of Zambia, Nepal Communist Party sign pact

THE Socialist Party of Zambia and Nepal Communist Party on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, with a commitment towards transformation of their respective societies into socialist societies.

Socialist Party general secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali, who was in Nepal to participate in the 200th anniversary seminar on Marxism and Socialism, signed on behalf of his party while Madhav Kumar Nepal signed on behalf of the Nepal Communist Party.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the two parties decided to establish formal and fraternal relations.

“Following discussion between two parties, the undersign parties, who believe in Marxism and are committed to the transformation of our respective societies into socialist societies, have decided to establish formal and fraternal relations between our parties on this day of May 30, 2018,” the MoU read, in part.

And in its declaration of international seminar on ‘Marxism and Socialism’ in commemoration of Karl Marx’s bicentenary, the gathering, among other things, recognised that the contemporary world was undergoing multiple contradictions, rapid scientific and technological innovations and changes.

“Unequal distribution of wealth and resources, hegemony and imperialism are still persistent. The resistance and struggles of the Marxist parties and working masses have been contributing for a better world to realise justice, equality, liberty, peace and prosperity combined with socialism. We have realised the urgency of further strengthening the movement. To march ahead, we believe in international solidarity and cooperation among the Marxist parties in the word,” stated the socialism movements.

“We extend our solidarity to all those who are fighting for people’s democracy, socialism, justice, equality, peace, environmental protection and inclusivity, women liberation, end of racism, all forms of extremism, caste and gender discrimination, poverty, capitalist exploitation and monopoly capitalism in the world.”

The parties that participated are Socialist Alliance (Australia), Socialist Party of Bangladesh, Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Workers Party of Bangladesh, Communist Party of China, MLPD of Germany, CPI (ML) Liberation of India, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Lao, Democracy Way of Morocco.

Others are Nepal Communist Party, Nepal Communist Party (Masal), Community Party of Russian Federation, Russia, Community Party of Sri Lanka, JVP Sri Lanka, Revolutionary People’s Party of South Africa, United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Party of Zambia.
