BOTH UPND and the PF have claimed victory in the Chilanga parliamentary by-election that took place today.
The ruling PF officials have announced on social media that their candidate Maria Langa has won and that the UPND had started stoning people.
But UPND vice-president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba declared that his party has won and retained Chilanga.
In a statement a while ago, Mwamba stated that no tricks by the Patriotic Front would be tolerated.
“We have the results in total and our candidate Charmaine Musonda Mehl is headed to Manda Hill as a new member of parliament for Chilanga Constituency,” Mwamba declared.
“We want to warn ECZ that we will not tolerate any deliberate Chulu electoral errors and delaying tactics this time, the results are clear and clearly so. We had all your plans and they have not worked because the voters in Chilanga are not ready to continue with hunger and poverty. We have won Chilanga, just announce the results NOW.”
Mwamba thanked Chilanga residents for the vote.
