Zam, Zim battle for COSAFA Cup

CHIPOLOPOLO will this afternoon when they meet the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the final of the 2018 COSAFA Cup at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa.

Zimbabwe embarrassed Zambia in last year’s final with a 3-1 hammering to lift the regional cup. Zambia will have to be at its best to stop one of the best and consistent teams in the region and in this competition in particular. This Zimbabwe team though appears a bit sloppy compared to last year’s team and had to qualify to the final via  penalty shootouts both at quarter and semi-final stages respectively.

However, whenever Zimbabwe meets Zambia at any stage, the story changes and the match becomes a titanic battle and the same is expected this afternoon. But Chambeshi’s side needs to improve their conversion rate as opposed to the way they  missed numerous scoring opportunities against Madagascar.

“It will be a crucial game, a very tough game. You know Zimbabwe are our achrivals. We will work hard and take this game with a very serious approach but our aim is to win this tournament. We are confident because we have been improving with each game we play,” said coach Beston Chambeshi.

It will be interesting to see whether Chambeshi will make changes to his misfiring frontline. On the defensive side of things, Captain Ziyo Tembo’s backline will have to face an accomplished striker in Sundowns’ striker Kharma Billiat whose skills can destroy any defence on any day.

Zimbabwe coach Sunday Chidzambwa feels the game is everyone’s to win.
“It will be 50-50. Each team can win it,”  said Chidzambwa.
The match kicks off at 15:00 hours and will be live on SuperSport.
