FAZ president Andrew Kamanga has congratulated the Zambia Women National Team for qualifying to the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship.
And Kamanga has also congratulated the Chipolopolo for emerging runners-up at the just ended Cosafa Castle Cup Senior Challenge.
Kamanga has urged the players that took part in the COSAFA to use the experience to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“FAZ Executive Committee is proud of the achievement by both teams that shows the strides made in the development of the local game,” Kamanga said.
“I urge the players to use the experience from Cosafa to compete for the limited places in the AfCON team with qualifiers restarting in September.”
Kamanga however pledged the association’s support to the Shepolopolo as they head to the continental tournament this November.
“FAZ will ensure that the women national gets the necessary support before heading to the tournament in Ghana,” said Kamanga.
The women’s team qualified on Sunday after defeating Zimbabwe 2-1 away to cancel the 1-0 home defeat on away goals rule.
And at the COSAFA Cup final in Polokwane on Saturday, Zambia emerged runners-up after losing 4-2 to defending champions Zimbabwe.
