US RnB artistes Joe Thomas and Brian McKnight have been unveiled as the headline acts of this year’s Stanbic Music Festival.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka yesterday, Stanbic corporate affairs manager Chanda Katongo said the festival had grown since its inception five years ago.
She said ticket prices remain the same as last year’s event (VIP tickets at K1,500 and standard at K500), for the event scheduled for the Lusaka Polo Club on October 5 and 6.
Fans would get to watch the two American artistes, Katongo said, “for the price of one.”
She added that this year’s event would have an almost all-female local supporting cast comprising Wezi, Kiki, Esther Chungu and Salma Sky.
Launched in 2014, the Stanbic Music Festival has previously hosted late South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela, Zimbabwean guitarist Oliver Mtukudzi, US jazz legend Earl Klugh, South Africa’s Mi-Casa and Zonke, and British band UB40.
Iconic US vocal group Boyz II Men headlined the festival last September.
