THE MTN/FAZ Super League enters the second half of the season with all week 20 matches taking place across the country.
Top of the bill is a mouth-watering encounter at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola where leaders Zesco United host title-chasing big spenders Lusaka Dynamos. Zesco will be looking to open up a 10-point lead at the summit of the log while Dynamos will be looking to add to the impressive 2-0 victory over Nkana last Saturday to continue rising on the log. Dynamos coach Dan Kabwe avoided discussing the Zesco match but hinted at how tough he expects the defending champions to be.
“Yes Zesco will be tough but that’s just another game for now we have to concentrate on this win,” he said after the game at Nkana Stadium.
The crunch match will be preceded by an early kick-off grudge match involving Nkana and Forest Rangers. Forest will be looking for revenge after losing week one points to Nkana in the boardroom for the failure to turn up for the match. The ZAFFICO sponsored side has since recovered from that early season shock and have gone on to post good results and the anger of losing points in that manner against today’s opponent makes the match a grudge affair and revenge will be on their minds.
“We have to start picking up points now, we can’t be winning one game today, then losing tomorrow it’s not right. But it is going to be a tough match, no match will be easy,” said Nkana assistant coach Manfred Chabinga after the Dynamos defeat.
Second placed Green Buffaloes will be hoping to start the second round the same way they started week one against Kitwe United. In that first match the marauding Buffaloes trampled on ‘Chingalika’ 2-0 in their own Garden Park and will be looking to do the same when Kitwe visit Independence stadium.
Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy hosts resurgent Power Dynamos with the Kabwe new entrants hoping to continue with their rise they showed towards the end of the first round in the early kick-off at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium, followed by Kabwe Warriors versus Nakambala Leopards at the same venue.
Resurgent Red Arrows visit bottom team New Monze Swallows in Choma with National Assembly hosting Buildcon. Second from bottom NAPSA Stars must start collecting points under new coach Mohammed Fathy or risk the embarrassment of sinking with all the sponsorship at their disposal.
Lumwana Radiants host Green Eagles hoping to continue with their impressive home record with the last game of the day being third placed Zanaco hosting hapless Nchanga Rangers.
