SOARING Green Eagles face ‘Magnificent’ Kabwe Warriors at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe in an enthralling encounter as the MTN/FAZ Super League week 24 round of matches continues this weekend.
And 11th placed Kitwe United will be looking to continue their impressive run in the topflight when they host inconsistent Red Arrows at Garden Park this afternoon.
Eagles who struggled to survive relegation last season have been a surprise and different proposition this season, beating opponents at will especially at their home ground in Choma.
The Aggrey Chiyangi mentored Eagles have surprised everyone in the league by rising to third position with 42 points on the log with Chiyangi managing expectations of the Eagles’ family by declaring that it would be too early to start talking about CAF Continental football even though at the moment that appears a huge possibility.
“Right now we are only concentrating on the local league. We can’t start talking about continental football this early in the season, we are focusing on the league,” said Chiyangi after beating Lusaka Dynamos 3-0 in midweek.
But today, Eagles fly into Warriors territory where many have come out with nothing but bruises as they ‘Warriors’ under Chiyangi’s former Chipolopolo compatriot Tenant Chilumba have been a serious force and are just a point within reach of Eagles making the match today an intensive affair.
At Garden park, ‘Chingalika’ will be looking to leap more steps higher when Arrows come to attack to move another step into the comfort zone to 33 points.
Arrows on the other hand will be hoping to win and increase their points tally to 27 to take another step closer towards safety.
Seventh placed Power Dynamos will be hoping the ‘sweet’ town of Mazabuka will not turnout bitter when they date Nakambala Leopards with both teams in dire need of full points.
Elsewhere this afternoon, Lumwana Radiants host struggling National Assembly while New Monze Swallows host Lusaka Dynamos.
