Chileshe Kapwepwe is new Comesa SG

CHILESHE Mpundu Kapwepwe has been appointed new COMESA secretary general.

Kapwepwe becomes the first woman to serve as Secretary General for COMESA since its inception in 1994.

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is a free trade area with nineteen member states stretching from Egypt to Swaziland.

Chileshe is the executive director of a non-governmental organisation called “Imiti Ikula Empanga”.

Trained as a public health nurse, Chileshe once served as member of parliament and as a deputy ambassador in Namibia and China.

    Hold on. Public records show that CK is an accountant. When accountancy is obliterated, then working at IMF headquarters becomes meaningless. Why not include the stint at Ministry of Finance? Take time to make big announcements. Zambia is making history with this appointment.
